Yes, this will be our final story....
We know it’s been a long time but we’re busy (hard life traveling)
We like to show you some pictures from our last 2,5 months.
In these 2,5 months we’ve been in Australia, Singapore and back in Thailand for another month.
Australia was great! We flew in, in Darwin and hired a campervan to begin our journey towards Perth.
We expected quiet areas in the outback, but were still surprised by it. The roads we drove on were absolutely empty, maybe one car in an hour if you’re lucky.
The landscape was great and every now and then it changed to a completely different landscape. Many reptiles on the road and of course the kangaroos!!
The villages we passed were very, very small and populated by a lot of aboriginals.
Difficult to see that those people don’t do anything else than drinking the whole day and hanging around in the parks around the villages.
There’s nothing else they can and want to do because they feel that their country is stolen from them. It’s a sad world to see those people together, looking through you as if they are in a different world. And I guess they are.
The first big town we stayed a couple of days was Broom. A nice change to find life!!! After all those kilometers of emptiness. (1880 km)
In Broom Vincent’s addiction started..... fishing!!! ;) We bought a hand line (just a plastic wheel with a line, some lead and a hook attached) and started fishing without any knowledge haha. Believe me that was fun, those professional fishermen with all their gear and we’re just there with one squid as bait and one hook.
Luckily the ozzies are very friendly and they helped us where they could. They gave us new hooks when we lost them, showed us how to make a fiserman knot to tie our hooks and most important to fillet a fish.
It was great we ate travelli, skippy, cod, snapper and even shark (by the way we didn’t caught that one ourself ) 10 of the 40 days we had a great fish meal caught by ourselves.
Because the weather wasn’t that good ( a lot of rain ) we decided to carry on and passed some more fishing places.
Next to the fishing we did a lot of snorkeling especially in the Ningaloo reef, the biggest reef in Australia. Wow this was amazing, sharks, turtles all sort of color fishes.
After 4049 km we arrived in Perth, we made our destination, but we had 10 more days left so we decided to travel south from Perth and found ourself in the Margaret River area. What a nice area! Margaret River is famous for their wines and olives....mmmm
We did a lot of wine tastings (for free) and their was a chocolate factory (with free tasting aaahhh)
Anyway, this part of Australia to me is the best part. Your next to the sea, beautiful rainforest, amazing rocks, empty beaches and wine....
After 6 weeks Australia was over, In total we drove 8165 km, drunk many liters of wine, gained some wait again haha and Vincent caught a new addiction, fishing.
Back to Asia via Singapore, we had to wait at Singapore airport for 10 hours, what was quiet a nightmare. We slept in a corner of the hall just to kill some time.
Back in Bangkok we decided to take a taxi straight to Hua Hin where we planned to do a month of kite surfing before going back to Holland.
We hired a house with another couple, but left the couple after a week because they were almost killing each other....
Back to a hotel where we’re getting slowly crazy because there was no wind at all but instead liters and liters of rain!!!
The kitesurfing became history for now and we decided to escape to an island to catch some sun we hoped...
Luckily when we arrived in Ko Tao (7 hours away) the sun was shining and it hasn’t stop shining until we left yesterday. We had a great 10 days on a paradise island with beautiful bays and fantastic snorkeling.
Vincent bought a rod to do some fishing so the fishing mania was back. He cought some nice sword fishes (they looked like that) and we ate 3 days from it.
Now we’re back in Hua Hin where we left our bags and preparing for tomorrow….
Tomorrow is our flight back to Amsterdam!!!!
Yes the adventure is over, it’s time to go back to work because the wallet is absolutely empty.
We had a fantastic time the last 7,5 months. We saw different countries with their different cultures. Very friendly people, and beautiful food.
We met a lot of great people, with contacts for life, we learned a lot and we have a bag of memories, never to forget.
Tuesday the 29th we’re back on Dutch ground (10 in the morning for the ones interested) and believe me we’re a bit scared…
Thanks for being with us during our travels; it was nice to read stories from back home. We’ll see you all soon!!

Ik vond het super om jullie verhalen te lezen en heb er bewondering voor dat je zo lekker van het leven hebt genoten de afgelopen 7,5 maanden, respect! De meesten gaan maar door met hun werk. Goeie reis terug en tot snel, ben vanaf 22 juni in NL voor een week.

Dag lieve reizigers, de verhalen waren al min of meer bekend, maar de foto's voegen daar veel aan toe. Schitterend! Er zijn een paar juweeltjes bij waarin ik Dees fotografisch oog meen te herkennen. Dat vissen ziet er trouwens behoorlijk professioneel uit ondanks de beperkte uitrusting. En klopt het dat ik op een foto niet alleen een haai zie, althans zijn/haar vin, maar ook een zwemmer? En is dat Vincent? Lijkt me griezelig of zijn niet alle haaien gek op mensenvlees? Hoe dan ook romantisch eten (en drinken) op uitgestorven zonsondergangstranden geeft mij een beeld van een zeer lange droom van een huwelijksreis. En dat terwijl jullie niet eens getrouwd zijn. Hoe dat moet als dat mogelijk eens zou gebeuren weet ik niet. 16 maanden weg? Of deze trip als voorschot? Ik verheug me er op jullie overmorgen (!) te zien en zal jullie de komende maanden als we elkaar weer vaker zien de oren van het hoofd vragen en met ogen op steeltjes jullie foto's bewonderen. Wow!!!!!!!!!!! wat een foto's. Prachtig. Dat jullie dat echt allemaal hebben gezien en meegemaakt, onvoorstelbaar. Wat een fantastische herinneringen hebben jullie gemaakt. Wat een onvoorstelbare rijkdom om mee te nemen in de rest van jullie leven. Ik verheug me erop jullie overmorgen weer in mijn armen te kunnen sluiten. Maar het gekke is, ik heb nu ook al een beetje heimwee naar de soms slechte verbinding telefoontjes. Naar de verhalen die we telefonisch te horen kregen, naar de web cam verbinding tijdens het chatten. Naar het avontuur wat jullie hebben beleefd en dat wij op afstand mochten volgen.
Lieve schatten, goede reis morgen, pas op jullie zelf. En heel veel succes bij de terugkeer in de maatschappij! Maar ik weet zeker dat jullie daar ook een succes van zullen maken.

Great story guys, glad to see you've lived the dream for while. Keep fishing Vince!! You just need to get a big round hat, grow a beard and keep working on that belly and you'll trully look like an Aussie fisherman.
