Island hopping

Dear all,

It’s been a about a week know since our last message…..

Yes we’re still alive and yes we are enjoying ourselves.
Since the last message we’ve left Bangkok, and been on several islands.

The first stop was Phuket, our flight was at 7.05 in the morning so we had to get up pretty early. And since the new airport is quiet far out of town we decided to take a taxi.
Normally a taxi ride to the airport should be comfortable, not this one!
I think the driver had another appointment somewhere, or he thought he was doing the Bangkok formula one race….
Anyway we were on time, and alive what a maniac.

Since we were so early we had some time to kill, so we tried the Bangkok air chill out lounge, and without any trouble we could get in.
So we had a nice cup off coffee and something to eat there.

Phuket
We booked a resort in advance so we had somewhere to go already,
Our resort was based near Kata beach
We had wonderful room sea view balcony etc……..

We chilled there for a couple of days, had a barbecue with the locals on the beach and did some beautiful snorkeling.

Second island was Ko Phi Phi.

We left there this morning, we booked a small bungalow there somewhere in the middle of the island.
Quiet a nice place to stay near the beach.
This island got struck very hard during the tsunami, and one part of the island got totally destroyed.

The island gave us a happy but also a sad feeling. Especially after hearing some stories from the locals.

A very laid back island, lots of backpackers, young and happy partying people.

I also did a discovery dive day, (only me since desire is asthmatic).
It takes one day, you first learn some basic skills and than you go for your first dive only up till six meters. Very interesting to be under the water this deep.( the ones who dove before know what I mean)
Second dive after lunch, I did up to 12.5 meters, saw some interesting things.
I was very lucky since I was the only person, so I had a private instructor.

We will test Desire’s lung capacity in Ko Samui, and hopefully they give her green light and than we might do our open water in Ko Tao

At the moment we are in Ko lanta , which was recommended by a friend.
We are staying in a resort again, got a bungalow right on the beach.(sorry hard life)
